Hi guys, here at MMK9A Troy we focus on providing the most effective dog training in Michigan. I learned how to train dogs in prison, and when I got out I wanted to use this skill to help people. I never dreamed it would get this big and I could touch so many lives. One of the reasons is that I had no idea what other people were doing when I first started. Can you believe that I did not even know what a board and train was? I thought I was brilliant coming up with the idea that a dog would stay with me for a week and I would call it a doggy boot camp! Imagine my surprise when I learned that what I was doing was already a whole industry.

This industry had standards that I knew nothing about. So when I started training dogs during their one week stay with me, i tried to cram as much learning as I could in that short amount of time. I wanted the doggy parents to feel that this transformation was well worth their money and that they would look back on this as the best investment they had ever put in their beloved dogs’ lives. It was only later when I discovered that other companies we’re taking four weeks to do what we did in a week, and that I had developed a system of transforming a dog very quickly.

Over the next several articles, I would like to lay out some of our principles and hopefully help our extended friends and family of the redemption crew. Everybody who participates in this wonderful project of MK9A we consider to be members of the redemption crew. We are balanced trainers, which we will discuss further in upcoming articles, and we put a heavy emphasis on making the training fun for our furry students. While we do use mild adversives, such as leash pops, we strive to keep them as minimal as possible and focus on the positive motivating factors, such as treats, toys, and affection. I trained my highly skilled dog trainers to bring a light, fun, high energy spirit to their training each day, drawing the dogs into the irresistible fun of learning new behaviors. Often, when the good behaviors are so much fun, the naughty ones fade away.

Thank you for joining me for a few thoughts, and I hope to get to know so many of you in the Troy and surrounding areas. I love this area and I’m looking forward to making so many new friends, and being part of so many new transformations. Have a great day! And be kind: train your dog!
